BRICK — A makeover, courtesy of a new owner, is on the way for The Shops at Brick, a shopping center between Route 70 and Van Zile Road.
TFE Properties, an East Windsor-based real estate and land development company, said it just purchased the 103,832-square-foot shopping center. It’s home to McDonald’s and Bonefish Grill, and has some vacancies including the former Aldi and Big Lots storefronts.
“We’re here to infuse it with fresh energy and love and TLC and get it filled up with a good tenant mix,” said Carey Tajfel, president of TFE Properties, in an interview with What’s Going There.
The Shops at Brick is TFE Properties’ fifth property in Brick. Others include Starbucks, Fortunoff Plaza and the Boulevard at Brick apartments, all on Brick Boulevard. An affiliate, Hotels Unlimited, owns Sheraton in Eatontown, DoubleTree by Hilton in Tinton Falls and Holiday Inn Express in Neptune among other hotels.
The Brick shopping center is near Ocean University Medical Center, other shopping destinations and the convergence of Routes 70 and 88. “It’s a just very solid location within the Brick corridor,” Tajfel said.
The owner will give the center a new facade to give it a modern look and repair and restripe the parking lot. Potential new tenants could include medical and entertainment uses as well as supermarkets and retail businesses, Tajfel said.
“Our specialty is buying properties that are tired, in need of repositioning or reinvigoration,” he said.
With the former Big Lots and Aldi grocery representing more than 50,000 square feet of vacant space, “we have a lot of possibilities,” Tajfel added. “We do have a roster of tenant groups that were definitely interested over the last year or so before we got invovled.”
Kevin O’Hearn and Joseph Lopresti of JLL Capital Markets represented the seller and buyer.
Available spaces range from 1,700 square feet to 35,000 square feet. For leasing information, contact TFE Properties at 609-944-4050 or info@tfeproperties.com.
