LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Nevada Lt. Governor Stavros Anthony has announced the formation of a Task Force to Protect Women’s Sports.
The task force will be made up of athletes, coaches, educators, and policymakers. The group will aim to safeguard women’s athletics by prioritizing fairness and creating a safe space for athletes.
According to officials, the Task Force will be led by Henderson resident and NCAA championship swimmer Marshi Smith.
Lt. Governor Anthony shared a statement which explained the needs expressed by Nevadans inspired these efforts.
“Nevadans have made it clear that they do not want men taking female athletes’ spots on sports teams, stealing athletic titles and records from women, and taking their daughters scholarship opportunities,” said Lt. Governor Anthony.
