We still do not know who will be in the broadcast booth for the two Netflix-exclusive Christmas Day games in the 2024-25 NFL season. However, Netflix’s studio cast is quickly beginning to round into form.
Last month, it was reported that NFL Network’s Rich Eisen will be involved with Netflix’s studio programming around the game, which will be produced by a production company led by former NFL Media producer Mark Quenzel.
On Friday, it was reported by Ryan Glasspiegel of The New York Post that Kay Adams could be joining Eisen in his studio responsibilities. Netflix is reportedly “targeting” Adams to serve as an anchor on their studio coverage for the games.
Both Netflix and reps from Adams’ camp chose not to comment on the matter when asked by the New York Post. But one factor seemingly indicates that there some be some validity to this report.
Adams, of course, spent six years at NFL Network as the original host of Good Morning Football. So there is some familiarity between Quenzel and Adams.
No deal is currently in place between Adams and Netflix. But it would be interesting to see how Adams would fit into the studio programming for these games, particularly because she and Eisen largely play a very similar role as hosts.
Netflix is clearly not cutting corners when it comes to trying to put together the best broadcast possible. Initially, Netflix had pursued Tom Brady and Kevin Burkhardt to call one of the games, but was quickly denied access to the two by Fox.
Now, Netflix is reportedly targeting Ian Eagle, Noah Eagle, Greg Olsen, and Nate Burleson in the booth. On top of that, Taylor Lewan has shared that he is on Netflix’s “short-list” to potentially be a sideline reporter for one of the games.
Netflix has quite a bit invested in these Christmas Day broadcasts both financially and for their reputation. It is their first big venture into live sports, with their WWE deal shortly following at the beginning of next year.
If things go to plan, it would show that Netflix is capable of hosting big events in the future. Whether that be for the NFL or potentially other sports leagues.
Bringing in someone charismatic with experience like Adams may very well go a long way toward making that possibility a reality.
