On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs will play the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Once again, the Nebraska Cornhuskers will be well represented on the field and the sidelines.
Nebraska assistant coach Terry Bradden will be on the sideline for the Kansas City Chiefs. Following Sunday’s game, he will join the Huskers as the defensive line coach.
On the Philadelphia Eagles sideline, three former Huskers will play in Sunday’s game. Cam Jurgens will have a chance to play in Sunday’s game after battling injuries over the past few weeks. Nick Gates will also have the opportunity to play as a backup guard. Defensive end Ochaun Mathis also will represent the Huskers as he looks to make the most of his opportunities on Sunday.
Nebraska has had a history of representation in the Super Bowl, with 63 players participating in the last 58 championship games. Last season, the Huskers were represented by former Blackshirt Randy Gregory.
Some additional history has a chance to be made on Sunday, with Husker alumni looking to win a championship. There are several storylines for both teams as the season prepares to come to a close. Nebraska fans will certainly have reasons to watch.
