The Nebraska men’s basketball team visited Penn State Wednesday night following a 20-point comeback win over Northwestern. After falling behind early, Nebraska couldn’t replicate another comeback, dropping the game 89-72. By the end of the first half, Nebraska trailed 50-27. The Huskers closed the gap to 56-40 but never closed the gap further.
Penn State shot 34-of-56 from the floor, dominating in the paint 52-36. The Huskers only shot 28-of-54 but finished the second half 19-of-29. Connor Essegian shot a team-high 20 points in the loss, going 8-of-15 from the floor and 4-of-9 from beyond the arc.
Andrew Morgan served up 18 points, shooting a perfect 8-of-8 from the floor and 2-of-3 from the free throw line. Brice Williams scored 17 points, finishing 6-of-11 from the floor, 2-of-5 from three-point range, and 3-of-3 from the free-throw line.
The Huskers drop to 17-10 on the season and 7-9 in conference play. The team returns home to host the Michigan Wolverines on Monday night. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. CT on FS1.
