VELVA, N.D. (KMOT) – The 2024 North Dakota State football coaching staff has some new faces and familiar faces in new positions. Head coach Tim Polasek, offensive coordinator Jake Landry and defensive coordinator Grant Olson were all in Velva Thursday.
The coaches participated in the North Central Alumni and Friends golf tournament at Star City Golf Course along with over 100 other players, including three-time national champion quarterback Brock Jensen.
“I think anytime you get outside of Fargo, you get a real sense for how strong the tradition is and the love for Bison athletics is. It’s awesome to be able to give back to the communities up here, give back to these great people who support us so much,” said Polasek.
Polasek begins his third stint on the Bison staff, the first coming from 2006-2012 and then as offensive coordinator from 2014-2016. He returns to Fargo after three seasons as the OC at Wyoming.
He outlined what he wants to see from the Bison on both sides of the ball this season.
“Offensively, we just have to take advantage of all of our weapons. I think we have to be very mindful of playing clean football. We’ve taken a deep dive into, you know, some of the games that we’ve lost. It really comes down to something as simple as turning the ball over. Defensively, right now, we want to be much better with our fundamentals, and we want to be a little bit more physical in everything that we do,” said Polasek.
NDSU opens its season on Thursday, Aug.29, in prime time against Colorado in Boulder.
