Stephen Curry is already considered the greatest shooter of all time. 

Shaquille O’Neal wants us to take it a step further and consider Curry in the argument for greatest player of all time.

“I demand you fans to start putting Steph Curry in the greatest-of-all-time conversation,” Shaq said on Tuesday night’s Inside the NBA on TNT. “Just start putting him the conversation… I played against Mike, played with Kobe, played with and against LeBron. They’re all great, but some point you have to put Steph Curry in that conversation.”

O’Neal’s comments came after Curry dominated in a comeback win at Madison Square Garden over the Knicks on Tuesday night.

Curry is the NBA’s all-time leader in 3-pointers made, at nearly 4,000 and counting. He also has the league’s highest career free-throw percentage at 91 percent.

In his Warriors career, Curry has won four NBA championships, the same total claimed by LeBron James across his three different franchises. They’re each two behind Michael Jordan’s six rings.

Curry defeated James in three separate NBA Finals (2015, 2017, 2018) before topping the Boston Celtics and Jayson Tatum in 2022, after many thought Golden State’s contention window was closed.

It appears the Warriors could contend again this spring after the acquisition of Jimmy Butler. They’re 9-1 since picking up Butler in a trade with the Heat.

The Lakers and James are rejuvenated, too, which could lead to a throwback postseason matchup between Los Angeles and Golden State. That’d certainly be a ratings bonanza, and it’d also bring out more chatter like O’Neal raised on Tuesday night.
