The NBA levied a series of fines against the Houston Rockets on Thursday. Coach Ime Udoka, forward Tari Eason and center Alperen Şengün were all fined for their actions during an emotional ending to Tuesday night’s loss in Sacramento.
Udoka, who was given two technical fouls and ejected for repeatedly pursuing official John Goble with 1:52 left, was fined $50,000. His failure to leave the court in a timely manner and use of profane language toward officials, both in the game and in his postgame media session, also played a part in the ruling.
Sengun was fined $15,000 for “directing inappropriate language toward a game official.”
Eason was fined $35,000, with the league citing his choice to throw a towel at a fan in the stands while using inappropriate language. The strange part is that the league’s announcement did not reference Eason’s failed attempt to run into the Golden 1 Center stands when he reacted to the heckling from a fan as he walked off the floor at the end of the game.

Rockets’ Tari Eason held back from running after heckling fan in stands after loss
As The Athletic first reported — after witnessing the incident first-hand — Eason ran from the tunnel near the visitor’s locker room and up a nearby ramp that leads to the lower concourse. Several security officials stopped him approximately 10 feet from the entrance to the arena, with one even hopping over a railing on the ramp to cut him off and another grabbing him from behind. Eason, who had yelled obscenities at the fan several times during the incident, relented moments later.
Sources close to Eason said the third-year forward was experiencing dizziness and headaches following the conclusion of the NBA Cup loss to the Kings, and Eason was subsequently entered into concussion protocol the following day. Eason had been one of the NBA’s most productive two-way reserves, averaging career highs in points, steals and blocks.
Since returning to the Rockets rotation following an extended injury layoff, Eason has thrived in a bench role alongside second-year wing Amen Thompson, providing energy, tenacity and physicality. Eason’s penchant for hustle plays, currently leading the team in total deflections and third in offensive rebounds per game, has become infectious within the team and one of the biggest reasons why the Rockets are off to a strong 15-7 start.
