Cade Cunningham on most impressive part of Pistons 20-game hot streak
Cade Cunningham after Pistons beat Bulls, Feb. 2, to move above .500. “Playing a good brand of basketball is a lot of fun. I think the fans enjoy watching it.”
The NBA All-Star Game isn’t the only event Cade Cunningham will participate in next week at Chase Center in San Francisco.
The Detroit Pistons‘ rising superstar will be one of eight players in the 3-point contest, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 15 before the Feb. 16 marquee game (well, mini-tournament). It’ll be Cunningham’s first appearance in the event, along with his first All-Star appearance, amid a season averaging 25.6 points per game while knocking down 35.4% of his 3-pointers.
Cunningham will be the Pistons‘ lone representative in the contest. Malik Beasley, who is second in the NBA with 191 made 3-pointers, did not receive an invite. Cunningham will compete against New York’s Jalen Brunson, Cleveland’s Darius Garland, Miami’s Tyler Herro, the L.A. Clippers’ Norman Powell, Golden State’s Buddy Hield, Brooklyn’s Cameron Johnson and Milwaukee’s Damian Lillard.
Second-year wing Ausar Thompson will represent the Pistons in the Rising Stars mini-tourney, scheduled for Friday, Feb. 14 at 9 p.m. The winning team in that tourney advances to play the NBA All-Stars in Sunday’s main event.
