2K Games is bringing a special focus on a basketball icon to the upcoming game, NBA 2K25. The new game will also reintroduce another mode with new features and improvements, giving players more unique ways to experience the game. The two modes, MyNBA and MyGM, will enable players to enjoy the newest edition of the franchise from a manager’s perspective. Players can choose to have an RPG-like experience and enjoy a star-studded roster of players.
The MyNBA mode will bring back all the greatest names and basketball legends, in their respective Eras, per the NBA 2K website. NBA 2K25 will include the Magic vs. Bird Era, Jordan Era, Kobe Era, and LeBron Era, as well as the brand-new Steph Era. The new Era will focus on the 2016-2017 NBA season and star player Steph Curry, along with Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, that season’s big four for the Golden State Warriors.

A first look at NBA 2K25’s new features reveals some exciting new gameplay and customization options that will significantly change the franchise.
MyNBA typically starts players in the league’s current season, but the Eras rewind the clock to let players rewrite history. The Steph Era is designed to put players in control of all facets of the Golden State Warriors franchise during the height of the Splash Brothers, specifically beginning in the year Durant was traded to join Curry, Thompson, and Green to form a super team. Curry’s three-point shooting ability has revolutionized the modern NBA, rightfully earning him a spot alongside Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James in the 2K25 MyNBA Eras lineup.
The My General Manager mode, or MyGM, is also making a comeback in NBA 2K25. This iteration of the team management mode will lean further into RPG elements. In addition to building up teams and managing them, players will also get a chance to flesh out the backstory of their management journey. This feature rounds out the other game modes, including NBA 2K25‘s updated MyCareer and MyPlayer, which focus on individual player progression.
Various backstories will be available to pick, including an ex-player, an ex-scout, a capitalist with deep pockets, and more. However, players will also be able to create their own success stories from scratch. Backstories will influence starting stats and play style and pave the way for unlocking various newly introduced Perks down the line. The MyGM mode will also let players influence their team and hone their management style through interactive conversations with players.
Another feature added to the returning mode is the MyGM Building. Here, players will be able to move around and interact with their staff members, the governor, and other key characters. Players can work toward goals through authentic interactions and conversation trees, shaping their team’s future a more realistic way than any previous NBA 2K game. NBA 2K25 is scheduled for release on September 6, 2024. Both MyGM and MyNBA modes will be available on launch, creating a new and improved way to interact with the game.
