NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Nashville’s oldest public golf course reopened on its 100th birthday after being closed for the past few months for renovations, and Metro leaders helped celebrate on Friday.
Shelby Golf Course has reopened after renovating all 18 holes and making several upgrades to the clubhouse including new lighting, flooring and countertops.
Last year, $2 million was donated to the Tennessee Golf Foundation, and that money was allocated to improvements to Shelby Park and Vinny Links golf courses
Metro leaders say the changes will be great for current and future golfers.
“It goes without saying that this department is dedicated to providing everyone with affordable recreational outlets,” said Metro Parks Department Director Monique Horton Odom. “And this golf course along with the six others in the system is a great example of quality and affordability.“
Shelby Golf Course will reopen for regular play starting tomorrow.
