ALBION, Ind. (WPTA) – Black Pine Animal Sanctuary’s ‘Cricket Karma’ fundraiser returns this Valentine’s Day, allowing community members to name a cricket, which will be fed to one of its animals, after someone who ‘annoys you most’.
Black Pine Animal Sanctuary is a multi-species animal sanctuary accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries. It provides refuge to displaced, captive-raised exotic animals for the rest of their lives and educates people about responsible animal care and conservation.
The organization says to participate in the fundraiser all you have to do is send a donation and name the cricket. From there, its staff will feed the crickets to one of their animals and let you watch.
Donations, which can be made here, are as follows: $5 =1 cricket, $10 = 3 crickets, $20 = 5 crickets, and $50 = 20 crickets, the title of Cricket Karma King or Queen, and a chance to win a Family Pass for the 2025 season.
The organization says the event raised over $3000 in 2024. This year, it says its goal is at least $5,000.
