A harness ruling published last week…
Running Aces, Sep 12: “Nick Roland was the driver of #7 Jk My Girl in the 11th race. After being sent to the test barn for post-race testing, it was noted by the State Vet that multiple marks were left on the rear of Jk My Girl. This is Nick Roland’s second offense of this nature in 2024 at Running Aces. Due to mitigating factors considering Nick Roland did stay in the confines of the Whipping Rule in Minnesota, the penalty is reduced to $500 and the 3-day suspension is waived granted no appeal.”
So – twice this year, this animal abuser whipped with such force he left marks, but because he didn’t break any rules per se, he only gets his wrist slapped (if we can even call it that). Roland, by the way, was aboard the 5-year-old Jk eight days later. Vile stuff.
Also: The CHRB has disclosed the death of Bullet Train V at Los Alamitos yesterday from “equine infectious anemia.” He was two years old and had been under the whip twice, most recently Aug 10 in New Mexico.
