Phil Mafah and Jake Briningstool Close Their Clemson Chapters, Declare for 2025 NFL Draft
Two Clemson standouts announced their decisions to pursue the NFL after successful collegiate careers.
Phil Mafah, a senior running back, concluded his time with the Tigers following a standout season in which he surpassed 1,100 rushing yards despite battling a shoulder injury late in the year. Mafah took to social media to thank the Clemson community and reflect on his journey.
“I would first like to start off by thanking Jesus Christ My Lord and Savior for giving me this opportunity over the last four years to play at Clemson University,” Mafah wrote. “I appreciate my family, teammates and Clemson staff for all of the support and encouragement throughout the years. My time at Clemson has helped shape me into the man I am today and will help me for the years to come. I also want to thank you to the fans that have supported us from the beginning.”
He continued, “Most of all, being able to use my platform to spread the Word of God has brought me the most joy. With that being said, I am excited to turn my attention to the 2025 NFL Draft. Go Tigers!”
Meanwhile, tight end Jake Briningstool also announced his decision to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft after four seasons with the program. Briningstool leaves as Clemson’s all-time leader in receiving yards for a tight end, amassing 1,380 yards, 127 catches, and 17 touchdowns during his career. His senior season saw him earn third-team All-ACC honors with seven touchdowns.
The 6-foot-6 standout has accepted an invitation to the Reese’s Senior Bowl, where he can showcase his skills to NFL scouts.
Both players left a lasting impact on Clemson football and are now setting their sights on the next chapter in their careers.
