The list of preseason fall sports polls continued this week with the release of the 2024-25 NSIC Men’s Golf Preseason Coaches’ Poll and Minot State University (MSU) was picked to finish eighth at the league championship to be held in April.
The Beavers tied for the eighth spot with in-state rival the University of Mary as each garnered 12 points in the vote by the league’s coaches.
MSU’s men’s and women’s golf teams open the 2024-25 season in three weeks, playing at the Bemidji State Invitational for the men and the Tracy Lane Memorial hosted by Bemidji State for the women, Sept. 9-10, at the Bemidji Town and Country Club. The 2024-25 NSIC Championships for golf will be held in April of 2025.
While MSU was picked eighth, senior Chase Gedak was highlighted as an NSIC Men’s Golfer to Watch this season. Gedak is a senior from Estevan, Saskatchewan who finished eighth this past spring at the 2023-24 NSIC Championship shooting a 4-over 220 (75-73-72).
Defending NSIC Champion Minnesota State, Mankato was picked to repeat as champion, racking up 59 points and six first-place votes, while Winona State was picked second with 55 points, and Concordia, St. Paul was picked third with 49 points and two first-place votes.
Sioux Falls senior Mason Weeks, an All-NSIC First Team selection last year, was named the Preseason Men’s Golfer of the Year.
