SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – The Notre Dame men’s and women’s basketball teams are just about to tip off their seasons. But before that happens, both teams are receiving more preseason honors.
Starting with the women, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced that Sonia Citron, Hannah Hidalgo and Olivia Miles were all named to the Naismith Trophy Women’s Player of the Year Watch List.
The watch list is filled with the nation’s top players, and just a handful of teams have three or more players on the list.
On the men’s side, point guard Markus Burton has been named to the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Top 20 Preseason Watch List. The award highlights the best point guards in men’s college basketball.
Both the men and women will play exhibition games on Wednesday before tipping off their seasons next week. The men will travel to Allen County War Memorial Coliseum to face Purdue Fort Wayne while the women will host Davenport.
