Get your nacho hats ready! Kent Brockman is about to call the action for Stan “The Boy” Taylor and the Springfield Atoms.
OK, so maybe that is how it would look in the actual “The Simpsons” universe. But on Dec. 9, ESPN will try the next best thing: A “The Simpsons” themed alt-cast for the matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Cincinnati Bengals on “Monday Night Football.”
“The Simpsons Funday Football,” as it is officially called, will air on ESPN+ and Disney+ as the NFL continues its alt-casts, which previously included “Nicklodeon’s Slime Time” and ESPN’s presentation using characters from “Toy Story.”
For those uninterested, ESPN and ABC will have Joe Buck and Troy Aikman call the game, while Peyton and Eli Manning will have their alt-cast on ESPN2.
For “The Simpsons Funday Football,” with the show’s creators heavily involved in the stream, Bart will be on the Bengals side, while Homer will ride with the Cowboys.
Marge and Lisa will interview players, while the Mannings and Stephen A. Smith will appear in character during the alt-cast. Drew Carter, Mina Kimes and Dan Orlovsky will be Simpson characters calling the game.
