After hosting UFC 312 in Sydney, Australia this past weekend, the UFC octagon is back on its home turf this Saturday night, with UFC Fight Night: Cannonier vs Rodrigues (aka UFC Vegas 101) going down in the cozy confines of the UFC Apex. For my MMA Main Card Pick of the Week: UFC Vegas 102, I’ve got a winning play coming from our middleweight main event.
Go here for more UFC picks!
Main Card Start Time: 4:00 PM EST (ESPN+)
Gregory ‘Robocop’ Rodrigues (aka the Brazilian Barack) gets his first UFC headlining slot this coming Saturday, facing perennial top contender Jared Cannonier. And I expect it to be a successful maiden main event voyage for the Brazilian.
Age is a key factor here, with Rodrigues being eight years younger than the soon-to-be 41-year-old Cannonier. Cannonier is also coming off back-to-back losses, including being TKO’d two fights ago. That’s bad news going up against such a powerful striker as Robocop, who has 10 knockouts in 16 professional wins. Rodrigues also has a massive grappling advantage if he chooses to lean on it.
UFC Vegas 102 Main Card Pick: Gregory Rodrigues (-175)
