Mississippi State is winless on all counts in the SEC this season.
Something’s gotta give in Starkville.
Missouri football will face a struggling Mississippi State team Saturday in Starkville, Mississippi, in its penultimate game of the 2024 regular season and its final true road contest of the campaign.
With two wins in their final two regular season games, Mizzou (7-3, 3-3 SEC) can stay on track for a 10-win season, which would mark just the third time in program history that the Tigers have achieved that in back-to-back years.
MU’s losses this season have come at Texas A&M, Alabama and South Carolina — all of which are in the CFP committee’s top 20 teams. Mizzou is ranked No. 23.
Missouri starting quarterback Brady Cook is expected to play Saturday as he was removed from the the Tigers’ Friday night availability report after carrying a “probable” designation in the team’s first two reports of the week.
Mississippi State (2-8, 0-6) is yet to win a conference game under first-year head coach Jeff Lebby, the former Oklahoma offensive coordinator. The Bulldogs are set to start true freshman Michael Van Buren under center, as Week1 1 starter Blake Shapen was ruled out for the season with an injury back in September.

The final SEC-mandated availability report of the week, released approximately 90 minutes before kickoff, has been published, and there are no new updates on the Mizzou end. Starting wide receiver Mookie Cooper will miss his fourth straight game.
That means quarterback Brady Cook is officially available to play today, as was expected. Safety Tre’Vez Johnson, who had made a brief appearance on the report earlier in the week, but is no longer listed and will be available today.
On the Mississippi State side, a team spokesperson has reportedly told local reporters in Starkville that wide receiver Mario Craver, who averages more than 20 yards per reception for the Bulldogs, is suspended and will not play today. He is listed as out on the final availability report.
