STARKVILLE — The Mississippi State men’s basketball season is here.
The Bulldogs open the 2024-25 season at Humphrey Coliseum against West Georgia on Monday (6:30 p.m., SEC Network+). It’s Chris Jans’ third season as coach, and expectations are high after consecutive NCAA tournament appearances.
MSU lost Tolu Smith III but retained freshman phenom Josh Hubbard and supplemented with six transfer portal additions.
Meanwhile, West Georgia is playing its first season at the Division I level as members of the Atlantic Sun Conference. The Wolves went 27-6 last season in Division II.

This is West Georgia’s first game since elevating to Division I this season, so that could be some extra motivation on a historical night. However, West Georgia doesn’t have the talent to match Mississippi State. The Bulldogs cruise to an 85-53 victory.
