Minnesota Adds Over 4,000 Jobs in December
(KNSI) – The Minnesota job market ended 2024 on a high note.
The unemployment rate went down even with an additional 3,300 jobseekers hunting through the classifieds. That is thanks to 4,100 hires, mostly in education and health services and government. The jobless rate ended the year at 4.1%.
The state has now gained jobs for six straight months and 10 times in the past year. Payrolls surged by 37,500 positions throughout 2024. The hiring came with a nice raise. On average, wages improved by almost two dollars an hour, or 5.4%.
The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development says the St. Cloud metro area gained 667 jobs year-over-year. The 0.6% growth was better than the Twin Cities and Duluth but trailed East Grand Forks, Mankato, Moorhead, and Rochester. All city numbers are not seasonally adjusted.
