MIDDLETON, Wis. (WMTV) – Middleton soccer player, Jimmy Murphy, has been nominated for National Player of the Year by Sports Illustrated.
He helped carry Middleton to a second straight Division I state championship last fall.
During his senior year, he had 21 goals and 15 assists during his senior year. WMTV spoke with Murphy about this honor and said he could not even put into words what this means to him.
“It’s really really special for me,” said Murphy. “Obviously representing Wisconsin is really cool and to be the only one is really cool. It just shows how hard I work and it means a lot to me.”
Jimmy was also named Wisconsin player of the year by the state coaches association and he’s the only player from the state to make the list of 25 finalists.
