East Lansing, Mich. – Led by a 5-under par 67 from junior Taylor Kehoe, Michigan State’s women’s golf team fired a 7-under par 281, the best team round of the day, and is in fifth place among 17 teams at The Landfall Tradition, being played at the Country Club of Landfall’s Pete Dye Course in Wilmington, N.C.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament, being played on the par-72, 6,178-yard course at the Country Club at Landfall, concludes on Sunday.
The Spartans entered Saturday’s second round tied for sixth place but shot a 7-under par 281 – the best team round of the day and the fourth-best round of the tournament – to finish the day in fifth place at 4-under par 572 (291-281).
Duke continues to lead the field, leading at 14-under par 562, with North Carolina and Florida State tied for second place at 9-under par 567. Ole Miss is in sixth place at 6-under par 570 with the Spartans rounding out the top-five teams.
Kehoe fired the second-best individual round of her career with a bogey-free 5-under par 67 in the second round. Her best career round, coincidentally, came in the third round of the 2023 Landfall Tradition, an 8-under par 64 when she was at Alabama.
Kehoe (74-67) and senior Katie Lu lead the Spartans, tying for ninth place individually at 3-under par 141. Lu shot a 1-under par 71 on Saturday, her second-straight under par round (70-71).
Senior Brooke Biermann had the team’s second-best round of the day with a 3-under par 69 and is tied for 24th place at even-par 144.
Junior Paula Balanzategui is tied for 59th place at 6-over par 150 (72-78) and freshman Catalina Monroy is tied for 77th place at 10-over par 154 (80-74).
Playing as an individual, sophomore Ana Sofia Murcia shot a 1-over par 73 and is tied for 40th place at 3-over par 147 (74-73).
Michigan State tees off at 8:45 a.m. on the fourth hole, playing alongside Ole Miss and Clemson.
