The dominance of Michigan football running back Donovan Edwards at the NFL combine continues.
The former five-star running back, according to 247 Sports, who ran for over 2,200 yards with Michigan football and had over 3,000 yards from scrimmage, including two legendary touchdown runs against Ohio State, improved his draft stock with his 4.45 in the 40 on Saturday.
You knew that Edwards was going to run fast. I actually think he could run a faster time than that but 4.45 is good enough for Edwards. It’s what he needed to do. When you add that to what he did during the Senior Bowl, impressing as a runner, but especially as a receiver, and it’s safe to say his stock is on the rise.
Edwards wasn’t as productive this season as some wanted him to be. But he was dealing with injuries and still averaged 4.8 yards per carry behind a mediocre offensive line and the worst passing game among the Power-4.
Edwards averaged more than five yards per rushing attempt during his career and also threw two touchdown passes. With the right team, in the right offense, Edwards could be dangerous.

He’s a true home-run threat. He also has untapped potential as a wide receiver and showed that he’s stronger than he looks on Sunday, putting up 23 reps in the bench press. That was the most among running backs.
It’s impressive that Edwards was able to show off his speed and now his strength at the combine. I don’t expect him to be a first-round pick or even a pick on day two. However, some NFL team is going to get a weapon and we were reminded of that on Sunday.
