LOS CABOS, Mexico — Baylor men’s golf continues its spring slate with a stiff test at the Cabo Collegiate, beginning Sunday at Twin Dolphin Club in Los Cabos, Mexico.
Traditionally one of the strongest fields in college golf every year, the Cabo Collegiate features two top-5, three top-10 and six top-25 teams in the latest
Scoreboard national rankings.
Baylor is making its 14
th-straight appearance at the event, and head coach
Mike McGraw looks forward to taking his team to the top-notch event.
“This tournament is always a highlight of our spring calendar,” he said. “B.A. Kline and her team do an amazing job of making sure this is a first-class experience for our players and coaches. On the course, this is regularly one of the best fields in college golf outside of the NCAA Championship. We need to be ready to go from the opening tee shot.”
Zach Heffernan will play at the No. 1 spot, making his second appearance at the Cabo Collegiate, but his first since 2021-22 when he finished tied for 48
th. Heffernan led the team with a tie for 39
th last week at the Prestige.
Drew Wrightson finished strong last week in Palm Springs and will play at No. 2 in Cabo. In his only other appearance at Twin Dolphin Club, the redshirt junior used a final-round 70 to tie for 23
rd.
Jonas Appel will debut south of the border at the No. 3 spot. The junior is just one event removed from his career-best finish, a tie for fifth at the Clerico to end the fall.
Davis Ovard put together back-to-back rounds at par or better to finish the Prestige and will get the nod at No. 4. The sophomore rode a final-round 69 to a tie for 35
th at Twin Dolphin Club as a freshman.
Vincent Stjernfeldt will get the final spot this week at No. 5. The team leader in par-4 scoring average looks to take advantage of the 7,156-yard par-71 track with his impressive length off the tee.
