HUNTINGTON, W. Va. – The Belmont men’s golf team stands in ninth place after 36 holes of the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational held Monday at Guyan Golf and Country Club in Huntington, West Virginia.
In their first rounds of the season, the Bruins posted scores of 288 and 286 to finish the day in ninth place at 574. Host Marshall has the team lead at 546. Morehead State is in second place at 554, while Longwood is in third at 557.
Sophomore transfer Chris Harpum leads Belmont after day one. The Kentucky native carded rounds of 72 and 67 to finish the day tied for seventh place at 139. He is four shots back of the individual leaders: Kamaren Cunningham of Murray State and Cameron Jarvis of Marshall, who are at 135.
One other Bruins is among the top-30 after 36 holes. Sophomore Jack Darke is tied for 26th place at 142. He shot rounds of 72 and 70.
Other Belmont scores from day one included: junior Conner Brown (T-43, 146), sophomore Grey Goff (T-66, 149), and sophomore Grant Clark (T-70, 150).
Two Bruins are competing as individuals: graduate student Foster Wood (T-62, 148) and freshman Brennan Cozad (T-78, 152).
