ACU men’s golf head coach Tom Shaw has announced the signing of two new players – one from a town about a 2.5-hour drive away, and one from the other side of the world.
Brady Mann, from Bridgeport, TX, signed with the Wildcats in November. Mann helped his Bridgeport High School team win the Class 4A state championship in May. Mann finished with the 4th-best individual score of 72-73 at Legends Golf Course in Kingsland, TX.
“Brady was born to wear the purple and white. He is a great fit for the ACU Men’s Golf Program,” said Shaw. “Brady is one of the top players in Texas, he excels in the classroom, and displays the strong moral character that we look for in our players. ACU is a perfect environment for him to showcase his amazing talents. We can’t wait for Brady to arrive on the Abilene campus!”
Max Clarke hails from Auckland, New Zealand, and was a semifinalist in the 2024 New Zealand Men’s Amateur Championship. Clarke also finished 5th in the Auckland Secondary Schools Championship earlier this year.
“Max is one of the top international players we have ever recruited, not only because of his excellent worldwide golf results but also his quest for excellence in everything he does,” said Shaw. “Max is a gifted student with extensive leadership experience that will benefit our team greatly. He will flourish in the Christian university setting that sets ACU apart from the rest. Max will impact our 2025 squad immediately and I’m excited to see what he accomplishes in his four years here in Abilene.”
The ACU men’s golf team begins its spring 2025 season in the first weekend of February for the Los Vaqueros event in Cancun, Mexico. UTRGV is the host school.
The slate also includes two tournaments in the Houston area, the Redhawk Invitational at Seattle’s Chambers Bay Golf Course, site of the 2015 U.S. Open, and The Buckeye Classic hosted by Ohio State.
The WAC Championship is April 25-27 in Payson, AZ.
