SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Hamilton College men’s golf finished in fifth place out of 21 teams in the Skidmore College Invitational, which was held at Saratoga Spa State Park Golf Course on Oct. 12 and 13.
Some golfers didn’t finish the first round on Saturday due to darkness. They completed the first round early Sunday morning but the second round was canceled due to rain and cold temperatures.
The Continentals, who received votes in the Oct. 11 Bushnell/Golfweek Division III Top 25 coaches poll, posted a four-person team total of 305. St. Lawrence University captured the team title at 298 while Williams College, Skidmore and Tufts University tied for second at 302.
Tyler Tornoe ’25 led Hamilton and tied for eighth place out of 120 players at 3-over 75. It was the third time he shot 75 this fall. Tornoe recorded 13 pars in his round. Will Whittaker ’25 tied for 15th place with a 76 that included four birdies on the back nine.
Ryan Connors ’25, who played as an individual, tied for 28th place with a 77. Connors has been in the 70s in nine out of 10 rounds this fall. Eric Soderberg ’26 and Brian Healy ’25 also finished with 77s. Healy’s round included an eagle on the 493-yard, par five third hole. Soderberg has recorded all 10 rounds in the 70s this fall.
Ramon Aroca Gonzalez ’26 tied for 37th place with a 78. His stroke average was 70.78 over nine rounds this fall going into the weekend.
The Continentals are scheduled to compete in the Ekwanok Sap Bucket Challenge at Ekwanok Country Club in Manchester, Vt., on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 1 p.m.
