ROCHESTER, Mich. – The IU Indianapolis men’s golf team will return to action this week when the Jaguars participate in the Golden Grizzlies Intercollegiate. The event will have a decidedly conference feel as eight of the 14 teams are from the Horizon League.
Head coach Jamie Broce‘s team is coming off a 10th-place effort at the season opening Bryan National Collegiate, carding a 54-hole 893 (293-294-306). Colten Girgis was the team’s top finisher at 4-over 220 (73-74-73) and true freshman Daymian Rij was next in line at 221 (73-76-72), including a final round of even par.
Those two will be joined in the lineup this week by Noah Kirsch, Sam McWilliams and Brady Schier.
THE COURSE
Teams will play the Katke-Cousins Golf Course at the OU Golf and Learning Center. Katke-Cousins was opened in 1977 and ranked among the state’s top 10 courses by The Detroit News.
THE FIELD
The 14-team field consists of Bowling Green, Butler, Central Michigan, Cleveland State, DePaul, Detroit Mercy, Green Bay, IU Indy, Northern Kentucky, Oakland, Ohio, Purdue Fort Wayne, Trine and Wright State.
