ANGOLA, Ind. – You can’t ask for a much better conference start.
Kicking off the first of four MIAA Jamborees, the Albion College men’s golf team took third with a team score of 299. The Brits edged out Calvin by one stroke and currently sit third in the conference standings.
Ryan Knitter tied a career-low with a 72, his lowest score of the season, tying him for sixth overall. Two strokes back was Blake Wagner, finishing with a 74 and sitting tied for 12th in the league.
Freshman Nicholas Giannone carded a career-best with a 76, while Camden Paul’s 77 was the next best score for the Brits. Bradley Davis rounded out the team with an 81. Alex Olmsted competed as an individual, shooting a career-low 72.
Albion will have some time away from conference action and will resume play at the Regional Showcase on Sep. 21-22. The tournament will be held in Willoughby, Ohio.
