MONTGOMERY, Texas – The Central Arkansas men’s golf team wrapped up the Bentwater Intercollegiate, fighting through lightning delays and terrible playing conditions to play a third round. The Bears ended the day in fifth place, thanks to a top-10 finish from Bogdan Sandrini.
Sandrini finished in eighth place, marking his first top-ten finish as a Bear. He shot a 6-over 77 in the third round tallying birdies on 16 and 17. Noah Blaickner added a birdie on the first hole to lock in a 77 of his own, finishing the tournament five strokes behind Sandrini.
Maksymilian Bialy tallied three birdies in the terrible weather, playing his way to an 80 to round out an 8-over 221. Vukasin Suturovic played his way to a 79, tallying a three-round score of 224. Kalle Svederman tied with Suturovic after penciling in an 81 on Tuesday.
Despite the rough weather, Central Arkansas finished second among the 14 teams with 42 birdies. Bialy was tied for first among individual golfers, sinking 12 across the three rounds. Sandrini also sunk ten of his own, finishing among the 12 golfers to record ten or more.
Chattanooga found a way in the tough conditions, closing Tuesday with a team score of 1-over 285 to vault themselves to the top and claim the team title. Sam Houston State and Midland College rounded out the top-three, with Sam Houston falling just a stroke short. Chattanooga had two players tie for first on the player leaderboard, with Ethan Whitaker and Braedon Wear each scoring 5-under after three rounds. Sam Houston’s Alex Malanga took home third.
