HENDERSON, Nev. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men’s golf team finished 12th at the Lake Las Vegas Invitational that was held Feb. 24-26 at Reflection Bay Golf Club in Henderson, Nev. The Eagles carded an 18-over 882 (300-290-292) on the par-72, 7,204-yard course with
Rory McDonald-O’Brien leading the way for the team after tying for 28th.
McDonald-O’Brien (Shrewsbury, England/Shrewsbury School/South Carolina Aiken) finished the three-round, three-day event at 1-over 217 (72-74-71) to tie for 28th while posting his second-lowest tournament score of the season, one stroke off the 216 he fired at the White Sands Bahamas Invitational (Oct. 25-27).
Daniel Robles Delval (Albacete, Spain/Escuela Nacional Blume/Rogers State) and
Tim Chan (Hong Kong, China/Loretto School/New Mexico JC/VCU) both shot 5-over 221 and tied for 42nd with Robles Delval (72-74-74) finishing at 221 strokes for the second consecutive tournament and tying for his second-lowest score of the season behind the 220 he shot at the season-opening Southern Dunes Collegiate (Sept. 9-10).
James Baxter (London, England/Highlands School & Sixth Form) tied for 56th at 8-over 224 (77-72-75) while
Pietro Fenoglio (Torino, Italy/Liceo Amerigo Vespucci/TCU) tied for 89th at 22-over 238 (78-78-82). The Eagles had two players competing as individuals with
Matthew Rastogi (Toronto, Ontario/Bayview Glen Independent) tying for 84th at 20-over 236 (82-83-71) and
Lucas Hughes (Bend, Ore./Central Christian/Grand Canyon) placing 91st at 23-over 239 (78-77-84).
Up Next
The Eagles will travel to Scottsdale, Ariz., to compete in the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate, March 7-8, hosted by the University of Michigan. The 17-team field will play on the par-72, 7,107-yard Outlaw Course at the Desert Mountain Golf Club with 36 holes on Friday, March 7, and 18 holes Saturday, March 8.
