SEASIDE, Calif. – Will Troy carded an even-par 72 as the Redbirds maintained their spot in the team standings during the final round of the Leadership and Golf Collegiate Championship hosted at Bayonet/Black Horse Golf Course.
Pacific used a final-round 275 to finish the 54-hole tournament with an 855 to secure the win, while BYU (860), Sam Houston (865), Loyola Marymount (866), Santa Clara (871), Saint Mary’s (871), San Francisco (875), Nevada (881), Seattle (883), UC Irvine (893), and Sacramento State (898) round out the 11 schools in front of the Redbirds, while ISU’s 908 is ahead of UC Santa Barbara (909) and Cal Baptist (912).
Troy’s round started with a birdie; however, he followed with four bogeys over a six-hole span to push his score to three shots over par. He was strong over his final 11 holes, with three birdies and eight pars to get back to even par during the round to tie for 40th overall.
Alex McCulla shot a final-round 79 to tie for 56th, as he had three birdies and five pars for his round. Playing as an individual, Francis Bautista used a final-round 78 to tie for 63rd, as he had two birdies and nine pars to finish with a 230.
TJ Barger saved his best round of the tournament for the final one, as he shot a third-round 73 to give him a 231 to tie for 69th. His third round saw four birdies and nine pars for his final round of the fall season. Pietro Pontiggia and Aiden Cudney finished the tournament with 54-hole scores of 232 and 233 for 71st and 73rd, respectively. Pontiggia had an eagle, a birdie, and five pars for his final-round 81, while Cudney had two birdies and 10 pars en route to his seven-over 79 final round score.
The Redbirds return to action on February 17 when the team travels to Laredo, Texas, to compete in the Border Olympics hosted by the University of Houston.
