The Sooners were ranked No. 3 by Golf Channel, 11th by Golfweek and 12th in the Bushnell/Golfweek D1 Coaches Poll. With consensus preseason All-Americans Drew Goodman and Jase Summy leading the way, OU is poised to compete among the nation’s top collegiate golf teams in the 2024-25 campaign.
Goodman, a senior from Norman, was named a second-team All-American by both Golfweek and Golf Channel. Additionally, he was the lone Sooner on the preseason watch list for the Haskins Award, given annually to the nation’s best collegiate golfer. A two-time All-American, Goodman holds Oklahoma’s school record for career scoring average (70.89, -0.45) and has played 114 rounds for the Sooners. The 2024 Trans-Mississippi Amateur champion, Goodman enters the season ranked 19th in PGA Tour University.
Summy was selected as a second-team All-American by Golf Channel and a third-team honoree by Golfweek. Last season, the Keller, Texas, product was OU’s top finisher (T27) at the 2024 NCAA Championships. With 70 career rounds, the second-most in program history for a rising junior, Summy has recorded 19 rounds in the 60s, eight top-20 finishes and four top-five finishes, including a runner-up spot at the 2024 Southern Highlands Collegiate.
Oklahoma’s No. 3 ranking in the Golf Channel preseason poll is its highest since being ranked No. 3 to start the 2022 season. Head coach Ryan Hybl leads the Sooners into the Southeastern Conference with a roster that features nine returning players and the No. 7 recruiting class in the nation.
In addition to Goodman and Summy, the Sooners return a combined 188 rounds played. Sophomore Ryder Cowan is coming off a standout season in which he earned first-team freshman All-American honors. Senior Stephen Campbell Jr. enters the season ranked No. 14 in the PGA Tour University preseason rankings. Other returning players include Jaxon Dowell and PJ Maybank III, who contributed last season, and junior Matthew Troutman. After redshirting last year, Connor Henry and Jake Hopper also return to the team.
Oklahoma’s full schedule will be announced at a later date.
