Memphis basketball star PJ Haggerty will face his former team, Tulsa, for the first time Wednesday at FedExForum.
Haggerty, who spent one season with the Golden Hurricane and took home AAC Freshman of the Year honors, is second in the league and fourth in the nation in scoring (22.1 points per game). He said he has kept in touch with multiple Golden Hurricane players and members of the coaching staff, but he is not treating the game any differently than any other.
“I think it’s another game,” he said. “I’m still close to some of the people over there. So, at the end of the day, it just is what it is. Business as usual.
“They’re just really excited to play us. But we’ll see Wednesday.”
The 15th-ranked Tigers (18-4, 8-1 AAC) have won five games in a row and are in sole possession of first place. Tulsa (9-13, 3-6) has lost four of its past five and has just one true road win this season.
