LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – Michiganders traveling this Labor Day weekend will see fewer orange barrels on their drive.
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is lifting 60% of its road and bridge construction projects statewide in an effort to ease traffic delays for holiday travelers. Lane restrictions will be lifted beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30. Lane restrictions will be put back on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 6 a.m.
MDOT is also reminding travelers the Mackinac Bridge will be closed to public traffic on Labor Day from 6:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. during the annual bridge walk.
