The Dallas Mavericks are in the market for an upgrade to help them bring home a championship.
The Mavericks could go big and acquire a Phoenix Suns superstar, but if that doesn’t happen, a five-time All-Star could make his way to Dallas. FanSided suggests that the Mavs go out and acquire Kevin Love in a three-team trade featuring the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers.
Here’s how the proposal would look:
Mavericks receive: Kevin Love
Heat receive: Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent, Markieff Morris
Lakers receive: Terry Rozier, Josh Richardson
The Heat are in a bit of a chaotic situation right now with Jimmy Butler requesting a trade, as the Mavs are an option for him as well.
Love will make slightly over $4 million next season, which allows the Mavs to add a stretch big who can still grab a decent amount of rebounds into the mix at a reasonable cost.
The 36-year-old forward isn’t the same player he was a decade ago, but having him out there to stretch the floor next to Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving will give the Mavs’ superstar backcourt more room to operate and a nice option to play alongside Dereck Lively II and Daniel Gafford.
Irving also has experience playing with Love while they were both on the Cleveland Cavaliers, as both won a championship together in 2016.
Sometimes small moves around the margins could end up being a huge difference-maker in the playoffs, and with Love’s experience, there’s no reason why he couldn’t provide that same impact.
