TULSA, Okla. —- The Minnesota State women’s golf team finished day one of the Tulsa Cup in ninth place.
The Tulsa Cup is being held at The Club at Forest Ridge. The par 72 course features four par threes and four par fives. Eighteen teams are competing in the event.
Rogers State leads the team standings with a 294-310—604 (+28). MSU turned in a 313-322—635 (+59) through the first two rounds. Lydia Sitars from Rogers State leads the individual field with a 69-75—144 (E).
“The women battled for 36 holes today in very windy conditions on a challenging golf course,” assistant coach Todd Pfingston said. “We had good stretches at times and made some birdies. We’re looking forward to making up some ground on the competition tomorrow.”
Freshman Aly Blomberg leads the Mavericks after shooting a 72-82—154 (+10) to finish the day in a tie for 15th. Sophomore Victoria Woytassek finished in a tie for 32nd with a score of 76-82—158 (+14), while graduate student Kelly Winter added an 83-78—161 (+17) and is tied for 45th after two rounds.
Junior Ava Olson tallied an 82-82—164 (+20) to finish in a tie for 55th, while junior Sammy Youngquist followed right behind with an 85-80—165 (+21).
