Monday morning started with uncertainty. Jordan Love left Sunday’s game after suffering a groin injury, and no one seemed to be sure how serious it was. In the immediate moments following the Green Bay Packers’ Week 8 win, head coach Matt LaFleur said the team ‘had a high level of concern‘ but didn’t have many other details besides that.

Given that Love has already been dealing with other lower body injuries – and had to be taken out of the game for good – it wasn’t unreasonable to expect the worst.

But the worst never showed up – at least, according to NFL Network. On Monday afternoon, Ian Rapoport tweeted out that Love’s MRI came back clean, adding that the injury is only (“only”) a strained groin and Love will “get better every day and do treatment and monitor throughout the week.”

It’s objectively good news for the Packers, especially given their opponent this week, but LaFleur still wasn’t super thrilled about the report. During Monday’s press conference, he talked a bit about Love’s status and how accurate the report truly is.

“I have no idea,” LaFleur said, when asked about Love’s status. “But he seemed like in good spirits. I don’t know where that information comes from, quite frankly. I hope it’s not coming from inside our building, but we’ll see … If he can go, he’ll go. We’ll see where he’s at by the end of the week, but if we feel like he can’t protect himself, we certainly wouldn’t put him in that position.”

A spy?! Leaking state secrets?! In Green Bay?! That feels more like something that’d happen with the New York Je– huh. Interesting.

I imagine LaFleur just wasn’t pleased that he had to confirm an outside (as much as NFL Network can be considered ‘outside’ at least) report. The only thing NFL coaches love more than keeping things in house is telling reporters how they’re going to keep things in house, so LaFleur’s probably just angry that he was robbed of the opportunity to provide literally no information when asked to.

The good news is that it sounds like Love will be fine and could play this week against the Lions.
