Manchester City welcome Championship side Plymouth Argyle to the Etihad in the fifth-round of the FA Cup this evening.
The FA Cup represents Manchester City’s last realistic avenue to silverware this season. Pep Guardiola’s side are aiming to reach the final for the third successive season.
City warmed up for the clash with a 1-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur in midweek, with Erling Haaland on the scoresheet. The Norwegian’s goal was his 20th in the Premier League this season.

The Citizens will start as strong favourites against a Plymouth side battling relegation. However, the second-tier strugglers sprang a huge upset after eliminating Liverpool at Home Park in round four. A win at the Etihad would surpass even that seismic shock.
Pep Guardiola could look to freshen up his side this weekend. James McAtee, who scored a hat-trick in the third-round win over Salford, will hope for a start at the Etihad. Jack Grealish, Rico Lewis and new signing Vitor Reis could also come in.
City will again be without Rodri, John Stones, Oscar Bobb and Manuel Akanji for the clash. Claudio Echeverri has linked up with the club this week following his arrival from River Plate, though Guardiola is likely to take a patient approach with the teenager.
Man City predicted XI: Ortega; Lewis, Reis, Ake, Gvardiol; Nico, Kovacic, De Bruyne; McAtee, Grealish, Haaland.
Manchester City host Plymouth in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Saturday 1st March 2025. Kick-off at the Etihad is 17:45 GMT.
