One person was shot and wounded Thursday evening at a shopping center in Vernon Hills.
The shooting happened just before 6:50 p.m. at the Hawthorn Hills Square Shopping Center, 700 N. Milwaukee Ave., in the north suburb, according to Vernon Hills police.
One person, who was only described as a male, suffered more than one gunshot wound and was taken to a nearby hospital, police said. His condition wasn’t known.
The police asked people to avoid the southwest area of Milwaukee Avenue and Route 60 due to its investigation, but also noted that there is no ongoing threat in the area.
No arrests were reported.
