FORT MYERS, Fla. (WKRC/WINK/CNN Newsource) – A man was holding Delta Air Lines accountable for damaging his golf equipment after his clubs were burned during transit.

John Andre’s golf bag was severely damaged, and his clubs were charred after a flight from Atlanta to Florida. He described the state of his equipment upon arrival at RSW’s baggage claim on Oct. 20.

“These have been dragged… and then they caught fire,” said Andre.

Andre explained that the damage occurred when his clubs were dragged, causing the protective covering to wear through, which led to sparking and eventually a fire. Initially, Delta Air Lines denied Andre’s claim for nearly $4,000 in damages.

“We have to make it right. And in that case, that means writing a check for the value of the clubs. That’s all we’re asking for,” said Andre.

However, after further communication with Delta, Andre received a call from the airline apologizing and agreeing to pay the claim in full.

“We got a phone call from Delta and miracle of miracles, they apologized and they’re going to pay the claim in full,” said Andre.

Despite the frustration, Andre expressed relief that the issue had been resolved.
