CHEMUNG, NY (WBNG) — The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office said a person was charged following an accident with a modified golf cart.
The Sheriff’s Office said it charged Joshua J. Davidson, 25, of Chemung. He is facing a charge of driving while intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor.
The office said, that on Nov. 27, around 10:40 p.m., deputies responded to a serious injury accident on Wyncoop Creek Road in the Town of Chemung.
Deputies at the scene determined that the incident involved a golf cart which was modified to go at a higher-than-normal speed.
The Sheriff’s Office said the cart was being operated illegally on Wyncoop Creek Road by Davidson when a female passenger fell out of it and struck her head on the road. She was seriously hurt in the incident.
The office noted that Davidson and the female were not wearing their seatbelt or a helmet. It was determined that Davidson was intoxicated, too.
The female was taken to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa. and remains in serious but stable condition as of Tuesday morning.
The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
