Police had to make an arrest on Colorado’s Folsom Field Thursday night.
A 48-year-old man suspected of a hit-and-run was arrested after he allegedly drove his truck onto Folsom Field. The arrest happened after Boulder Police were alerted to a truck that had been involved in multiple hit-and-run incidents around the University of Colorado campus.
University of Colorado police then got involved. From 9 News:
Officers attempted to stop the driver, but he continued to drive away from them, said police. Then the driver was spotted near Colorado Avenue and 28th Street when CU Boulder Police tried to stop him on Stadium Drive.
Campus police said the driver rammed a gate to drive onto Folsom Field. The University of Colorado Boulder sent an emergency alert via social media just before 7:20 p.m. Thursday warning of a heavy police presence at Folsom Field and advising the public to avoid the area.
The driver, Karl Haglund, surrendered after he was surrounded by police after his truck got onto the field. He was arrested on nine different charges including criminal attempt of vehicular assault, multiple counts of leaving the scene of a crash and trespassing, a charge that ostensibly comes from driving his truck onto the field. Per ESPN, Haglund had parked his truck near one of the 40-yard-line markers.
Thankfully for the Colorado grounds crew, there doesn’t have to be a rush to get the field ready for Saturday night. Colorado plays at Colorado State in Week 3 before returning home to play Baylor on Sept. 21.
