JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – Craighead County sheriff’s deputies arrested an Osceola man after they said he threatened to beat a woman with a golf club.
Craighead County District Judge David Boling found probable cause Monday, Feb 10 to charge 35-year-old Robert Elvincarl Freeman with aggravated assault, first-degree false imprisonment, first-degree interference with emergency communication, and resisting arrest.
On Sunday, Feb. 6, deputies responded to the 800 block of Craighead Couty Road 706 for a welfare check.
According to the affidavit, the victim told deputies that she was visiting Freeman and the two had a disagreement.
When she attempted to leave, she said Freeman closed the door and barricaded it shut.
During this time, she stated that Freeman took her phone from her, preventing her from making calls.
Deputies took photos of her injuries that the victim claimed happened from Freeman slamming her head into a table multiple times.
The victim said Freeman held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her. She added that Freeman threatened to hit her with a golf club.
The affidavit said when deputies contacted Freeman in the home he refused to exit and barricaded himself in the bathroom.
After a short struggle, deputies made entry and placed him into custody.
Freeman is being held at the Craighead County Detention Center with a $150,000 bond.
Freeman’s next scheduled appearance in court is Thursday, March 20.
