PORTLAND (WGME) – The Maine Celtics gave back to the community in a unique way Monday.
They teamed up with Bill Dodge GMC Buick and took members of the Boys and Girls Club on a shopping spree at Target in South Portland.
The team says it’s extremely important to be involved in the community. They say one way to do that is by helping kids and being good role models.
“It feels good, kind of getting into the holiday spirit, we had a light practice today, so we have some free time after, and we get to spend some time with the kids and take them shopping, you know, just spend some time with them,” Maine Celtics forward Anton Watson said.
The team then took the kids to the Portland Expo, where they wrapped the gifts together and received some more surprises from the players.
The Maine Celtics’ next game is December 27 in Michigan.
