BOARDMAN, OH- The Mahoning Valley Coaches are proud to announce the inaugural 2024 Girls Golf Showcase, a landmark event designed to foster the growth of golf among young female athletes in Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana Counties. Scheduled for Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 9:00 AM, this showcase will be held at the scenic Mill Creek North Course, aiming to promote and develop the sport in the local community.
The primary goal of the Girls Golf Showcase is to provide a platform for talented young golfers to display their skills and inspire others to take up the sport. The selection process was rigorous, with the local coaches committee identifying girls who competed in the OHSAA Sectional Tournament last season. A cut-off score from their 18-hole rounds was used to select the participants for this season’s 9-hole event.
The selected golfers represent a diverse group of talented individuals from various high schools across the counties. Among those chosen are Miya Cohol, Natalie Sawicki, Aubree Philibin, and Gianna Ross from Canfield; Alexandra Conley from Boardman; Katie Pregibon from Mooney; Addison Williams from Bristol; Hailey Muntean and Maddie Jackson from Columbiana; Madison Touart from LaBrae; Abby Evans from Ursuline; Hannah Zhu and Sloan Wolanzyk from Howland; Cassie Klotz from Lakeview; Madelyn Fox from Hubbard; Ellie Jackson from Columbiana; and Hayden Mesler from West Branch. These girls, ranging from grades 10 to 12, have shown exceptional skill and dedication to the game of golf.
The event is made possible through the dedication of the coaches committee, which includes Dean Conley from Canfield High School, Lee Cristman from Boardman High School, Rex Rage from Howland High School, and Chad Moreski from Columbiana High School. Their commitment to nurturing young talent is commendable and essential to the success of this showcase.
There is no cost for the players to participate in the showcase, ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder these young athletes from showcasing their talent. While there are no competitive awards, each player will receive a free gift as a token of appreciation for their participation and achievement.
The Mahoning Valley Coaches 2024 Girls Golf Showcase promises to be an inspiring event, highlighting the future stars of girls’ golf in our region. The community is invited to come out and support these exceptional young athletes as they compete at Mill Creek. This showcase is not just about competition; it’s about celebrating the hard work, dedication, and passion these young golfers bring to the sport. We look forward to a day of fantastic golf and community spirit.
