ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) – Coming off their winningest season in program history, the LSUA Generals Women’s Basketball team has picked up where they left off.
LSUA defeated #13 Loyola University (LA) 83-70 on Monday afternoon at the Fort. The Generals led for nearly the entire game, including by as much as 22 points in the first half.
“It turned out like we wanted to, it‘s good to get games going,” head coach Billy Perkins said. “It‘s just one game out of 30 so we’ve got to get ready and go to the next one.”
Dannah Martin-Hartwick led the Generals in scoring with a game-high 27 points, including four three-pointers. Amani Gray and Reese Stephens each added 16 points. LSUA made seven of their 15 three-point attempts.
“Our guards, they defend, they play well but just very proud of how the comradery and what we do,” Perkins said. “It’s a team effort by everybody.”
The Generals will play an exhibition game on Wednesday night against Kim Mulkey and the LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge, before returning home on Saturday for a game against Mobile.
