LSU football needed tight ends in the transfer portal this offseason, and the Tigers landed another one Saturday.
Texas A&M tight end Donovan Green committed to LSU, he confirmed on social media, during a visit to Baton Rouge. Green, a redshirt sophomore, has multiple years of eligibility.
Green is a former four-star recruit who’s 6-foot-4 and 265 pounds. He has 22 catches for 233 yards and two touchdowns during his career, all of which came during his freshman season in 2022. After missing the next year, he primarily played on special teams this past season.
LSU wanted to add multiple tight ends after starter Mason Taylor entered the NFL draft and sophomore backup Ka’Morreun Pimpton transferred to TCU. Green became the second tight end to transfer to LSU this offseason, joining Oklahoma redshirt junior Bauer Sharp.
Green has two more years of eligibility, and he could obtain a third through an additional redshirt after missing the 2023 season with an ACL injury. He also visited West Virginia.
LSU now has Green, Sharp, freshman Trey’Dez Green and four-star signee JD LaFleur at tight end heading into next season. Trey’Dez Green broke out in the Texas Bowl with six receptions for 53 yards and two touchdowns.
