Love Golf Design will lead a restoration of Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina.
Pete Dye originally designed the course, with assistance from Jack Nicklaus, and it opened in 1969. The course hosts the RBC Heritage tournament on the PGA Tour and remains highly ranked.
Scot Sherman of Love Golf Design completed a series of changes in 2020.
According to the resort, the 2025 project aims to preserve classic shot values and design as well as ensure the course has championship-level playing conditions. Work includes rebuilding greens, bunkers and bulkheads.
“Everyone at The Sea Pines Resort is committed to honouring the legacy of Pete Dye’s design,” said John Farrell, director of sports operations. “We will protect the shot values, both long and short, that have come to define Harbour Town Golf Links for nearly six decades.”
“I’m both honoured and excited to be working with The Sea Pines Resort’s Harbour Town Golf Links team on the restoration of Harbour Town,” said Davis Love III. “Given my success on the course over the years, it is a layout I know and love. We’ve already begun a thoughtful process for protecting the integrity of this Pete Dye masterpiece.”
The course will close in May 2025 when construction begins and reopen in November 2025.
